Brazeal Brothers

Brazeal Brothers

Brian and Ed Brazeal were born in Alaska, lived in Oklahoma and 25 years ago followed their father in becoming farriers. For the last 15 years, Brian and Ed have worked as self-taught Blacksmiths using only hand tools and traditional methods. Brian traveled around the United States and worked with Tom Clark at the Ozark School of Blacksmithing and Bob Patrick, Bill Bastas, and Tsur Sedan.

In 2004, Brian and Ed met Professor Alfred Habermann, who invited the brothers to Europe where for 6 months they competed at Hephaiston in the Czech Republic, demonstrated at the Christmas Market in Ybbsitz, Austria, and studied with Professor Alfred Habermann. They traveled to a nearby town to forge a railing for the home of the parents of a local girl, Julia, who had died of cancer. Many of Julia's "critters" were forged as part of the railing. Later, Brian was invited to apprentice with Professor Habermann and with the help of the California Blacksmiths Association stayed 11 months until returning to demonstrate at the 2006 ABANA conference in Seattle. Brian returned to Europe in 2007 and is now working in California.

Brian and Ed are focused on sharing what they have learned and "look forward to forging with you all" at the 2008 CBA Spring Conference.
